Try Steamtown USA or Kennywood. Pittsburgh, Philly and Erie all have wonderful attractions like museums, water parks, restaurants etc. also Lancaster County or the Smicksberg/Dayton area for Amish-y type stuff. Sharon, PA is home to Reyers, the worlds biggest shoe store. There is tons to do in Pennsylvania.

The reason State College is such a crazy party town is due to it being the home of Penn State. I guess if you like to party that would be an attraction. The Almighty knows that we see more than our share of drunken partiers.

However, there are more things to do around State College than party.

There is the Ice Rink at Penn State, the Creamery at Penn State, some museums and Pattee Library, Beaver Stadium, Bryce Jordan Center. Plus some other things, there is always something going on at Penn State.

In addition, within about 40 miles of State College there are many other things to do. To name a few:

Penn's Cave (Centre Hall) (there is a wild animal farm and I think an old farm equipment museum attached)

Lincolon Caverns (Huntingdon)
Indian Caverns (Spruce Creek)
East Broadtop Railroad (Orbisonia) (in season you get to ride the train)
Railroader's Museum (Altoona)
Horseshoe Curve (Altoona)
The Arts Festival (mid summer at State College)
PA Military Museum/28th Divison Shrine (Boalsburg)
Boal Museum (Boalsburg)
Baker's Mansion (Altoona)
Curve Baseball (Altoona)
Spikes Baseball (State College)
